Student Advantage: Students will be able to complete a for credit class in art during the summer session. Academic preparedness and scheduling flexibility is the key advantage to this summer offering.
Course Description: 2.5 credits (60 hours)
Students will explore the art of designing their own characters through 2D and 3D media while experimenting with the basics of drawing and sculpture. Activities will include learning the foundation of basic drawing techniques, illustrating character profiles, comic illustration and sculpting character maquettes. This class may include an off campus field trip.
Student Advantage: Students will be able to complete a for credit class in film studies and production during the summer session. This course does not preclude students from taking film production or film studies courses during the traditional school year.
Course Description: 1.25 credits (30 hours) Summer Film Experience is a course that allows students to experience a blend of the Film Studies and Film Production courses offered during the year. Students will learn basic filmmaking terminology and film analysis techniques, as well as gain exposure to the digital filmmaking process. This course will be tailored to accommodate different levels of previous experience and is recommended for students who have never taken a film class, or for students who have taken several film classes. (Movies with a PG-13 rating will be included in screening list.)
